Today, people across the world stood together in a show of solidarity and recognition in celebration of women. The focus of this year’s International Women’s Day has been about #EachForEqual. For the women of Montefrío this translated to ‘Por la Igualidad’.
People from Montefrío travelled to the city of Granada to take part in a walk of solidarity to celebrate Dia de las Mujeres! Everyone walked together in a procession through the city – women, men, girls and boys – led by 100 batucadas (drummers) from drumming groups across the province of Granada.
The streets were lined with a wash of purple with everyone waving flags, balloons and carrying banners. People walked, danced and sang together – each as equal and together making history!

A group of women from Montefrío’s infamous Treme Terra Batucada were part of the 100 strong drummers and proudly banged their drums for women from Montefrío, Granada and throughout the world.

They were closely followed by tens of thousands of people from across Granada – #eachforequal and in celebration of Dia de las Mujeres.
The finale saw the drummers and crowds joined by dancers in Plaza del Humilladero completing the celebrations with music and dance.

A day to remember and be proud! Everyone, each for equal and together making history – Juntos Hacemos Historia!
